Did you know that a rare and spectacular supermoon will be visible in the northern hemisphere on the eve of November 14th? In fact, there have been no supermoons of this size and brightness for almost seven decades, making it one of the most anticipated lunar events we will get to experience in our lifetimes. And, there won’t be another chance to witness a supermoon of this caliber until November 25th, all the way in 2034, which is why we’re telling you about it now. But, there’s more.
Why This is a Spectacular Supermoon
The moon has an elliptical orbit. Supermoons occur when a full or new moon is at its perigee – the point in its orbit at which the moon is closest to the earth. This causes it to appear some 14% larger and 30% brighter. What makes this spectacular supermoon so special is the fact that the side of the moon that’s approximately 30, 000 miles closer to earth than its other side will be facing the earth when it happens, thus making it the closest the moon has been to our planet in 70 years.
Supermoons have always been and continue to be perceived as transformative events. Just imagine you were living thousands of years ago when everything was explained through myth and legend. Witnessing a spectacular supermoon would be considered a divine celestial event. Even today, though we now understand the science behind it, the phenomenon still hold a lot of significance for many spiritual and religious communities. Interestingly enough the term “supermoon” came from astrology and not astronomy.
Harvesting Supermoon Energy
A lot of people believed and continue to believe that supermoons signal a time for self-reevaluation, cleansing, and starting anew. The idea is that the moon’s amplified light and energy could be harvested and used for healing and spiritual purposes. In other words, those who incorporate it into their spiritual practices have a better chance of connecting to its powerful energy. It’s a great opportunity to for aligning the chakras and connecting to a higher self.
The spectacular supermoon coming up on November 14th is the optimum time for focusing your intentions, figuring out our desires, and practicing meditation to achieve a new level in the ongoing process of spiritual awakening. To do this, we suggest engaging in a manifestation ritual. Start by preparing a special affirmation to recite over the warm glow of a Merkaela candle. Then take some time to really think about your goals, hopes, and ambitions. Finally, soak in a nice long bath while practicing visualization and let go of everything else.
